Norfolk is a great place for riding, and is full of riding stables suitable for all ages and abilities.  The lush green fields, the endless bridle paths, the beach riding and off road riding all adds up to make Norfolk a lovely place to ride.  Most stables and riding schools provide out or indoor arenas, with one to one tuition or group rides, offering teaching for beginners or the more advanced.

RIDING ON NORFOLK BEACHES

Horse riding is not permitted on Norfolk beaches during the summer months, although Holkham Estates do allow riding on Holkham Beach all year round.  Always check signage before taking your horse on a beach - and make sure your trailer can fit under the car park barriers!

EQUESTRIAN SPORT AT THE OLYMPICS

Equestrianism made its Summer Olympics debut at the 1900 Summer Olympics in Paris, France. It disappeared until 1912, but has appeared at every Summer Olympic Games since. The current Olympic equestrian disciplines are Dressage, Three-Day Event, and Stadium Jumping.
